AboutVolkswagen Passat User Manual
This VW Passat manual covers models introduced to the UK in December 2000. Saloon and Estate models are available, equipped with 1781 cc and 1984 cc petrol engines, and 1896 cc diesel engines. All engines are turbo-charged with the exception of the 1984 cc petrol engine. The diesel engines are equipped with unit injectors, where the injection pump is replaced by a rocker shaft and arm assembly which utilises a second set of camshaft lobes to compress each unit injector in turn; this provides higher injection pressures, and increased accuracy of injection timing. A five-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard to all models, with a six-speed unit available as an option on the 1896cc 96 kW diesel Sport model. For the home mechanic, this Volkswagen Passat repair manual is straightforward, and most of the items requiring frequent attention in the Passat are easily accessible.
